Hands-on with The Hardest Flight, in which my brain gets all confused and that
Here's what you need to know about The Hardest Flight before clicking the play button on the video below; 1. It's an endless action game.2. It's straightforward to play, difficult to master.3. It's from Chillingo, so ads are all over the bloody shop.4. It's nevertheless pretty good. There. Now hit play, and grab it for free from the link under our video when it hits the App Store on 5th February. [App Store link]…
6 more real versions of mobile games, featuring Scribblenauts, Peggle, Minecraft, and more
After the last time we looked at a bunch of mobile games that had been given a real world twist, I realised that there were a whole heap more we'd managed to miss. Seriously, there were some incredible videos that didn't make our list last time round. So to rectify that, let's dive straight into part 2. Angry Birds Go! - Go karting has changed since I was a kid. Peggle - Absolute bliss, and Bjorn is looking just fantastic. Minecraft: Pocket Edition - Because of course someone did a Minecraft one. Plants vs Zombies - I don't remember the game being this... epic. Scribblenauts - Excellent work (as always) from Smosh. Flappy Bird - How to make a super simple game way more comp…
Hands-on with Beat the Beat, the indie shmup firing on all dubstep cannons
Coming to iOS, Android, and Windows Phone in summer of 2015, Beat the Beat is a rhythm action dubstep shooter, in which the enemies are brought into play and react to the music being played. As you can probably expect, this combo of dynamic and bass heavy beats, mixing with intense shooting and dodging makes for some incredibly gameplay - gameplay that really needs to be seen (and heard) to be believed. Which is exactly what you can do by pressing play on the video below.…
Hands-on with Fast & Furious: Legacy, Kabam's new drift and drag racer
Fast & Furious: Legacy is currently in soft-launch in Denmark, and since the original game was so gosh darn popular I simply had to go see if this new one is up to the same standard of the series. It's certainly well within Kabam's wheelhouse: a drag and drift racer with some auto-runner elements included for good measure too. Here's how it looks, if you have a Danish account you can grab it from the link under the video. [App Store link]…
Hands-on with Angry Birds Fight!, the match-3 birdie brawler
So Angry Birds Fight! is a match-3 puzzler with RPG elements, and I'm not massively impressed with what I've played so far of the soft-launched version currently available in Thailand. It's not a bad game at all, though the audio isn't nearly up to the franchise's usual high quality, it's just that it's in a genre that's kind of played out at this point, and a match-3 would have to do something really interesting to grab my attention these days. Maybe you'll like the look of it? Find out by clicking play on the video below. [App Store link]…

Hands-on with Angry Birds Stella POP!, the new bubble popper from Rovio
There's no two ways about it, Angry Birds Stella POP! plays a heck of a lot like Bubble Witch Saga and Puzzle Bobble. But you know what? That's okay. Currently in soft-launch in Canada, Angry Birds Stella POP! might not be the most original game, but it's very well put together, looks lovely, and sounds even better. Here's what it looks like. [App Store link]…
Hands-on with Endless Balance, Balance of the Shaolin's arcade mode
I rather liked Balance of the Shaolin when I played it back in July of 2014, and now its developer is back with a new game very much based on its gameplay mechanics, and have called it Endless Balance. Think of the two games as complimentary: Endless Balance is the arcade-oriented highscore chaser, where Balance of the Shaolin is the story mode. The game is fresh out on the App Store, you can grab it via the link below this video. [App Store link]…
Hands-on with Forgotten Memories, 2015's most terrifying horror game?
The Silent Hill series. The Clock Tower franchise. Rule of Rose. Fatal Frame. The first two Resident Evil games. If any of these titles just sent a shiver of nervous excitement and fear up your spine, you simply have to watch our early look at Forgotten Memories, a horror game heavily inspired by those classics coming in 2015. Seriously, take a look at this terrifying bit of business.…
Hands-on with Bungee Mummy, in which we learn to fling the dead
Bungee Mummy asks you to fling a mummy - i.e. a dead person wrapped in linens and whatnot - around various puzzle platforming stages. This is why video games are awesome. An act that would actually be pretty horrific (and not to mention dusty) in real life, is actually a perfectly pleasant activity for a free-to-play action game to ask you to partake in. Here's our hands-on video from Pocket Gamer Connects.…
Hands-on with Exit Strategy, where it's fun playing with portals
Here's the deal: in Exit Strategy you have no control over a constantly moving vehicle, other than to place portals in front of it and redirect its path towards the stars scattered around the level that you must collect before exiting the stage. It's pretty good, and it's free, and though there's a fair wedge of advertising in there too, you can pay to turn that nonsense off. Here's how I got on with it.…
Hands-on with Jungle Force, where goats shoot asteroids at sloths
Jungle Force is from the same studio behind the warmly received Dawn of the Immortals and A Few Days Left. The team is known for making visually impressive and addictive free-to-play titles, but with Jungle Force it's gone one better. Sporting a really lovely pixel art style and top audio, plus a whole bunch of “one more go...”, as well as a bunch of cartoonish animals with dangerous weapons, Jungle Force is a neat tactical action game that's coming soon, and currently in soft-launch in a handful of territories. If you fancy giving it a go, you can grab it via the link underneath this video. [App Store link]…
New Playworld Superheroes trailer reveals more gameplay
Got sixty seconds? Then you've got time to watch the new trailer for family-friendly hero-em-up Playworld Superheroes. The game aims to encourage children to think creatively by designing their own alter-ego hero, and attempting to save the world from evil aliens. You know, that old chestnut. Here's how this one looks in motion, you'll be able to download it from the App Store from Thursday 29th January.…
Hands-on with The Wild, the hotly-anticipated new first person survival game
There's no denying that The Wild is the first person mobile game on everyone's lips right now. A survival game that owes much of its design to games like Day-Z and Rust, The Wild has been in development for some time now and is the work of Toonuva Games, a tiny indie dev out of Vermont with very big ideas. How are those ideas shaping up? Here's my very early look at the game.…
