Tiny Realms coming to Android early 2015, big updates for iOS players before Christmas
TinyMob has dropped us a line to say that if you happen to be an Android gamer you'll very soon have access to what I sincerely believe is one of the best strategy games of the year. Tiny Realms will come to Android devices "in the New Year", and you only need to see just how much coverage we've given it so far to know that you should be very excited about this fact if you happen to game with Google gubbins. We've also been told that those with the iOS version will receive "major new content" before 2014 is through. If you're waiting for the Android version (or you haven't yet downloaded the game for your iPhone or iPad), here's the brand new trailer for the Battlegrounds mode to get you…
Ambition announces surprising download figures for its English language dating games, plus MOE Can Change is now available in 3 new countries
Brilliantly bizarre dating sim Animal Boyfriend struck a chord with me earlier this year, and it seems to have struck a chord with some of you too. In conjunction with developer Ambition's other western release - MOE Can Change - its English language titles have now been downloaded an impressive 200,000 times. At the same time as we received news of this download milestone, Ambition also revealed to us that MOE Can Change has now been released in three new countries: Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. So if you're in those territories and fancy teaching a lady robot how to love, fill your boots. And really, who doesn't? Here's the trailer... ... and here's how you can download MOE Can C…
6 wince-inducing crotch busting shots from Gingerbread Stickman Shooting Showdown
There's a dedicated community of gamers playing Gingerbread Stickman Shooting Showdown looking to perfect their aim with a bow and arrow. Most of them are trying to shoot the little gingerbread man on the top of the stickman's head, but some of them aren't. Some of them are trying to shoot the stickman in the crotch, attempting (no doubt) to ellicit the most painful yelp they possibly can, and then capturing the moment for eternity and publishing it on Everyplay. Each to their own, here are the six best... Blam, right in the jewels. Ouch. Owowowowowowowowow. Oh my goodness. These are starting to make me feel a bit ill now. That's really gonna smart in the morning. Found…
5 stupendous Angry Birds cakes that will make you say 'Mum, I want one of these for my next birthday, not a boring tray cake from Marks and Sparks again'
Last time we looked at video game cakes featuring Rovio's plucky bird brains, we focused on the “playable” ones. They're awesome, obviously, but for some people the thought of making a cake is hard enough, let alone making it a full Angry Birds level you can fling birds at. So I've gathered together a load of examples of cakes that are a little more static, but just as cool. The five videos you can see below represent the pinnacle of what YouTube has to offer when it comes to Angry Birds-themed cakes, featuring guides and demonstrations by brilliant YouTubers Rosanna Pansino, Cakes StepByStep, CakesByChoppA, MyCupcakeAddiction, and LauraPoopie. 4 Sonic The Hedgehog cakes you'll want to scoff down faster than the Blue Blur eats chili dogs
It's pretty hard not to love Sonic The Hedgehog, which is probably why Dr. Kintobor's creation has been gracing consoles and handhelds, mobiles and tablets for years now, and there's no sign of him going away any time soon. A video game icon, it's no surprise that gamers celebrating birthdays have made all sorts of Sonic cakes to commemorate the day. Here then are four of the very best. Biggest of ups to YouTubers Carlos Ramos, CakesByChoppA, Elisa Garcia, and Chris Perez, whose work you can see below. 5 unbelievable fan-made Supernauts creations of real world locations
We're back in the wonderfully creative world of Supernauts, digging through your cool constructions that have been captured for all to see on Everyplay. We've already covered the celluloid masterpieces recreated in Supernauts, so this time we're thinking even bigger: real world landmarks and locations, re-made in Grand Cru's online construct-a-thon. I've found the five very best ones I can, but if you've found better, drop a link in the comments. A Japanese castle Most of London The Great Wall of China The wild west Las Vegas…
13 dubstep remixes of hit mobile games - number 4 sounds like an indecisive Optimus Prime wondering whether or not to transform and roll out
Dubstep and video games have a bizarrely lengthy history together, with all sorts of dubstep remixes of classic console and PC games to be found across YouTube. Mobile specific game remixes are a little more hard to find, but they're out there, and they're quite something to behold. Here's 13 of the very best. 1. Plants vs Zombies - Let's start off strong: this one's brilliant 2. Chrono Trigger - Nothing conveys the heartache Frog suffers like a dubstep cannon 3. Angry Birds - Because obviously there's a dubstep remix of the Angry Birds theme 4. Pac-Man - Apparently you can get this as a ringtone. Ace 5. Tetris - Yeah, alright, I see what you're doing here 6. Clash of Clans…
Peter Molyneux's controversial F2P god game Godus arrives on Android, both versions receive new social doodads
After a few months of waiting, Godus is now out on Android devices, bringing Peter Molyneux and 22cans' vision of what a modern god game should be to Google Play. If you somehow missed the original release on iOS (and PC), Godus is a divisive building and management game that asks you to sculpt the land, gain followers, and directly influence the direction of your little populace. Pretty much everyone agrees that it looks the part, but the free-to-play aspects have reportedly put some noses out of line. This Android version is the very latest build and includes all updates and improvements made to the title thus far, including all the challenges from the Frontier Age. Both this and the iOS…
Worms 3 gets Christmas update, Santa now delivering festive air strikes
Is there anything more embarrassing to a gamer than having your last Worm poked off a cliff edge by another Worm? Yes: having your last Worm poked off a cliff edge by a Worm wearing a ridiculous Christmas hat. Or perhaps blithely tripping over (and setting off) an explosive Christmas Pudding Mine. Getting Air Striked by Kris Kringle would turn your face pretty red too. All of which is now 100% more likely to happen, now that Team17 has given Worms 3 a Christmas update, which you can see in the gameplay video below. Get Worms 3 on iOS or Android via the links below. The 4 worst Fail Hard fails, and 4 best Fail Hard wins
When you fail hard in Fail Hard, you fail hard. But the flipside of this is that any victories, demonstrations of skill, or general signs of competence are met with hushed reverence or whooping excitement. I think this is best demonstrated via these replays I've found on Everyplay. Let's start with the bad replays, the ones that make you think “hey, you actually might be a danger to yourself in real life if you're this bad at Fail Hard. That's a pretty terrible start... … but that's a worse start. You know you've messed up bad when you wind up in a bin... … and you've got to screw up real bad to break the game entirely. These last four are actually pretty…
Touch Racing 2 has had a silly amount of downloads on iOS, and it's now out on Android too
Touch Racing 2 has had 2 million downloads on iOS. That's a lot of downloads. Which is fair enough, because the game's pretty darn solid. There are loads of modes and tracks, tons of upgrades and cosmetic tweaks, and strong touch-based controls - all of which you can see in our hands-on video of an earlier iOS build. Fancy taking Touch Racing 2 out for a spin? Grab it via the links below the trailer. [App Store link][Google Play link] …
The people behind Plunder Pirates hired a galleon, filled it with nerds, and had a #PlunderParty
New York Comic Con may be a hazy memory for some, with sepia-tinted scenes of meeting the stars of geekdom and hanging out with their fellow nerds. For some, the memories are probably even hazier. Like some of the Midoki lot, probably, as they threw a massive party at the event for their latest game Plunder Pirates, on a galleon bedecked in a jaunty pirate theme, no doubt replete with bass cannons. They captured some of this #PlunderParty on film and put it out there for all to see / be massively jealous they didn't get an invite. Plunder Pirates is out now, for free, on iOS. [App Store link]…
4 Cut the Rope cakes you can make at home that will make you shout 'Om Nom nom' through mouthfuls of delicious baked loveliness
Om Nom is undoubtedly one of my favourite characters in gaming: the cute eyes, adorable mannerisms, and our shared love of eating sweets makes me want to reach into the game and give him a big hug whenever I fail him by managing to screw up a level. The fact that people on the Internet have decided to make cakes based on this hero of Cut the Rope fills me with joy, and I think it'll do the same for you too. So if you're feeling in a creative mood, you'll definitely want to check out the stellar work by superstar YouTubers CakesByChoppA, iHasCupquake, Abe's World, and cakezonepl below. Apple's new 'Gamers' video - featuring Vainglory - gives me The Feels
There's a brand new ad for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus talking about how it's got that fancy new chip in it, and how games will look better than ever on it. It highlights the rather wonderful looking Vainglory, as Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake get ever-deeper into the complexities of the new MOBA's gameplay, for comedic effect. And you know what? It's a very good advert. We do all sometimes get obsessed by the nuances of our games, and I love that mobile gaming has reached a point where they're complex, rich, and detailed enough that people can get obsessed by those nuances, whether it's Vainglory, or The Sailor's Dream, or Clash of Clans, or whatever else it is you love to take wi…
Tiny Realms update brings unit traits for each faction, we have the cheat sheet revealing all the details
Tiny Realms is, hands down, one of my favourite games of 2014 so far, and continues to be by far and away the best new strategy game on mobile. It's awesome, and part of its awesomeness is that it's continually evolving. The latest update brings with it specific traits for each unit of each faction in the game, further developing the already deep yet accessible strategy management gameplay. The Battlegrounds mode has also been further balanced, and inviting friends to play with you is a bit easier now too. We've just been sent a fresh gameplay video showing the traits off, focusing on the Steam Knights, Golems, Bear Cavalry, Mammoths, Bog Hunters, and the Shambling Mass. If you need more i…
