It's Saint Patrick's Day - Here are the Irish-developed iPad and iPhone games to celebrate with
It's Saint Patrick's Day. It's a time to get together with your friends and drink copious amounts of sludgey black beer while wearing silly hats. What could be better? Well I guess we could celebrate some of the Irish-developed games that you can download and play on the App Store right now. That'd probably be more interesting and culturally relevant, y'know, if you're into that sort of thing. As ever you can click on the emboldened name of the games below to download them. And if you've got your own Irish-developed fancy then make sure you stick it in the comments all the way down there at the bottom of the article. Star Commander - Free A big, casual RTS that sees you taking command…
The Thursday Find - Ticket to Earth
Oh Thursday, you beautiful lumbering beast. So full of hope for the days that follow, so full of rage for the things that have passed before it. Or something like that, I don't know. All I know is Thursday means it's time for the Thursday Find. This week, thanks in part to the App Store indie game take-over, there have been an awful lot of really, really good games coming out. But I think this one is definitely the one you should be playing. It's called Ticket to Earth, and it's a mesmerising mix of puzzler and RPG. There are more words about it in the paragraphs below this one. Oh, and click on the game's emboldened name in a few words time and you'll be able to grab it from the App Store…
Why PlayStation Now coming to iPhone and iPad is a good, or bad, idea
In an interesting development, yesterday Sony announced that it was set to add PS4 games it its PlayStation Now service. That essentially means you'll be able to play streaming current gen console games on your PC. And that's a tantalising prospect, if you ask me, because I think we're now only about two steps away from PlayStation Now turning up on mobile. And that means PS4 games on your phone or tablet. Sure you'll need a 5MB internet connection to make it all work, but with the advent of 5G networks, and super fast home broadband, what's to stop Sony making the leap and letting us mobile gamers get some of that sweet, sweet console action. But what are the arguments for and against Pl…
The best games on sale for iPad and iPhone right now - March 15th
Somehow we've already managed to make it to Wednesday. How? I've got no idea, but here we are, fists clenched in defiance at the never-ending passage of human constructed time. If only there was something to distract us from that fatal arrow. Oh, wait, what about some cheap iPhone and iPad games? That might do the trick, yeah? Especially if someone put them in an easy to consume list form, with links to the games on the App Store. Well we're in luck, because that's exactly what I've done. And there are some proper classics on sale right now, so I expect there's something here for everyone. As ever, click the emboldened name of the game to go and download it. Prune - 99p / 99c What can…
The best iPhone and iPad games in Apple's Indie Game take over - Part One
Apple is having a special Indie Games take over of the App Store of the moment, featuring new and exciting indie games that you should be playing on your iPhone or iPad. But which are the ones that you need to download right this second, the games that are going to make you fall in love with interactive digital entertainment all over again? Well in my humble opinion you can't go wrong with these three right here. Of course, we're only part of the way through the event right now, so come back next week for part two of our must-buy indie games guide. And tell your friends. And your enemies. Tell everyone. And, as ever, you can click on the emboldened name of the games below to be taken off…
Overwatch might be coming to Switch, here's why it should come to iPhone and iPad
Everyone really likes Overwatch. All of my cool friends with their games consoles tell me I should spend money on it so that I can play it, but that sounds an awful lot like effort, so it's unlikely that it's going to happen. But there are rumblings that Overwatch might be coming to the Nintendo Switch, which got me wondering - could the game come to mobile? And so here, in list form, are some reasons why it might. If you can think of your own, either for or against, then whack them in the comments and we can have a right good chat about it, like how friends do. The power of the iPhone The black slab of metal and glass in your pocket or your hand is pretty damn powerful nowadays. Sure,…
Here's everything you need to know about Planet of Heroes for iPhone and iPad
Every now and then here at AppSpy we like to keep you up to date with recent additions to the App Store. So today I thought I'd have a look at Planet of Heroes, a new casual-ish MOBA that landed on iPhone and iPad last week. It's a super polished free to play game with an awful lot going for it, especially if you're a fan of having a MOBA in your pocket. Is it as good as some of the other MOBAs on mobile? Well you're going to have to read on to find out, aren't you? Oh, and give a clicky click to the emboldened name of the game underneath this paragraph and you'll be abe to download it. You're welcome. Alright, let's get on with some content. Planet of Heroes - Free What is it? It's a f…
The Monday Musing - Where do you play mobile games?
It's a question that's been bugging me for a while now – where's the best place to play mobile games? It's been bugging me because it's fair to say I'm not your average consumer of mobile entertainment. I mean, it's my job – I'm basically playing them in what amounts to an office (bed). So in this week's Monday Musing I thought I'd have a good long ponder about some of the spots where people might play mobile games. Partly because there's not really much else going on, but mainly because I'm genuinely interested. Of course, if you've got a preferred place to whip out your phone and have a poke, feel free to let everyone know about it in the comments. And remember, no one's goin…
The 5 best games for iPhone and iPad this week - March 10th
Oh what a week it's been. We've done some stuff, we've seen some things, and remember all of those shenanigans we got up to? Lord there were so many of them. And then we swore a solemn pact we'd never tell anyone about the specifics of them. So here we are. Anyway, it's been a 7/10 sort of a week in mobile gaming, but we've still managed to pull five thorns out of the paw of the App Store that we think you should be playing this weekend. And by we I mean me, because there's no one else here and I don't want to sound crazy. Click the emboldened names to download the games from the App Store. Or don't, I mean I'm not the boss of you. If I was you wouldn't be sat in your pants reading excelle…
Here are the best Game of Thrones games for iPhone and iPad
Everyone is going Game of Thrones crazy right now. It's because the first trailer for the newest series of the dirty sexy swords and intrigue drama has just come out. So now seems like the perfect time to look back at the Game of Thrones games you can get for mobile. Unfortunately there are only two really, but two things is still enough things to make a list out of. Well, it probably isn't, but I'm going to try anyway. As per usual you can click on the emboldened name of the games and be taken to the App Store where you can spend some of your hard-earned cash on picking them up. Except one of them is free. But you know what I mean. Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series Your choice…
Here are the iPhone and iPad BAFTA nominees, and which one's going to win
It's awards season. You might have noticed some furore over the Oscars a few weeks ago. Hopefully nothing like that is going to mar the BAFTA game awards, which are set to take place on April 6th in London. Five mobile games have been nominated, mostly in the Mobile category, unsurprisingly. There's bleed through to other awards, but for the big one, these are your nominees. Well, actually there are six nominees, but one of them's Pokemon Sun and Moon, which isn't really a mobile game, and will more than likely win. Anyway, I thought I'd rank the game's chances, creating excellent content in the meantime, and proving I don't know anything about odds. If you've not played any of the games…
The Thursday Find - Float
Oh Thursday, where have you been all my life? Just sitting about in the same place? Fourth day of the week? Right, well I should definitely start paying a little more attention then shouldn't I? Enough of that gibberish. Thursday at AppSpy means finding things. And the thing I've found today is an interesting, serene arcade game that, even though it has a few problems, is still worth checking out. But what is it? I imagine you're howling at the screen right now. Why it's Float, silly. And if you smash a click on the emboldened name of the game below you'll be swooshed away to the App Store where you can grab it. Fair? Float - £1.99 / $1.99 In Float you're controlling a flower. Well…
The best iPad and iPhone games to play for International Women's Day
It's International Women's Day, so what better time to celebrate the female protagonists on the App Store? Well, every day really, because it's important to cherish diversity and inclusivity. That's what we do here at AppSpy. And if you've got a problem with that, well do one, basically. If, on the other hand, you've got your own ideas about which woman-fronted mobile gaming experience you think deserves some plaudits, well chuck that in the comments. You can click on the emboldened game names below to download said games. Er, I think that covers everything so let's smash out a list. Lara Croft GO If you're looking for an iconic woman in gaming you don't need to look much further than…
The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now - March 8th
Wednesday. Ostensibly the third day of the working week. A time to sit down and take stock of the horrible mess you've made of everything? Nah mate, it's the perfect time to get some iPhone and iPad games for dirt cheap. But which ones should you get? Well if you ask me, which you clearly are doing since you've made it this far into the article, then you should definitely consider getting one of the five games that I've listed below. I mean, there are lots of games on sale right now. But most of them have 2048 in their name, or are horrible rip offs of fighting games that will, more than likely, install malware on your iOS device. But if that's what you're after, knock yourself out. If yo…

So obviously I've decided to give you a run down of the three best Games Workshop games that you can play on iPhone and iPad right now, that are set in the swords and sorcery Warhammer era. And if you click on the emboldened names of one of the trio, you'll be whisked to the App Store where you can spend some cash doing just that. Buying them.…
