Tiny Thief gets magical new Bewitched chapter in latest update

Cutesy point-and-click adventure game Tiny Thief has just received an update which gives you access to a brand new chapter. Titled Bewitched, Tiny Thief's new level sees the King kidnapped by the Wicked Witch. Taking control of the pint-sized pilferer, it is your task to rescue him from her evil clutches. You can only fight fire with fire, however, so this episode has the little tea-leaf turning to the dark arts in order to fight off the witch’s spells. We really enjoyed Tiny Thief’s mix of platform and adventure elements. Its charming art style and clever puzzles earned it a strong recommendation, despite its relatively ease and brevity of the six original adventur…

Broken Sword series on sale to honour the Grand Master of the Knights Templar

Today in 1314 the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, died. 700 years later, Revolution has decided to put both of its Broken Sword adventure games on sale for 69p / 99c to commemerate the occasion. If you've played any of the Broken Sword games before, this unusual tribute does make some sense. Though set in modern-day Paris, the point-and-click adventure game series draws heavily on the history and mythos surround the Knights Templar. The first of the two titles, Broken Sword: Director's Cut, is an extended version of the classic adventure game. The Director’s Cut adds new scenes to protagonist George Stobbart's tale of mystery, murder, and intrigue, wh…

Play the 30th Anniversary Edition of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Game on your iPad

It was 1984 when Infocom's original The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Game released. Now, 30 years later, the game is playable for free on the BBC 4 Extra website. The 30th Anniversary Edition of the game keeps Douglas Adams and Steve Meretzky's original text adventure intact. However,  the interface has been given a visual overhaul to update it for a modern audience. This new look improves the gameplay, too. A visual representation of your current location allows you to keep track of interactive items. It also records how many moves you have made, letting you beat yourself up about your inefficient problem solving after each session. Keeping the original adventure intact m…

New adventure game Doggins gives you a glimpse into your dog's dreams

Anyone who has ever had a puppy will recognise the quiet whimpers and excited twitches of a dreaming dog. Now Brain&Brain's new adventure game Doggins gives you the chance to explore just what is going on in their mongrel minds. Doggins wastes no time establishing its adventure game credentials. Donning the collar of sleepy pooch, you are approached by a monocled squirrel holding a "curious envelope." Turns out the acorn loving critters are trying to rewrite history by leapfrogging though history, and preventing important inventions from being created. Naturally, it's up to you and Doggins to stop the squirrels via a series of tactile puzzles. Doggins's surreal story works…

Beyond Space Review

Review Bulkypix By Alex Beech, 10 years, 8 months ago
Beyond Space Review

The game which Beyond Space wants to be and the game which Beyond Space actually is are two entities light years apart. Developer Bulkypix clearly intended to make an expansive space drama filled with intergalactic and interpersonal conflict. What they actually made was a good space shooter, weighed down by an overly verbose story and horrible voice acting. Max Walker, the star of Space Beyond, is an unfortunate soul. Despite being a talented fighter pilot, he is the ugliest man…

Space adventure Out There is now out there on the App Store

Space adventure Out There is now out there on the App Store

Space doesn't have to be full of aliens and mutants to be scary. Sometimes, just the solitude and isolation of its cold vacuum is enough. This lonliness is exactly what Out There, the new title from Mi Clos Studio, capitalises on, stranding you in run-down ship, floating in the darkness of the void. Awaking from cryonics in an unknown part of the galaxy, Out There's theme of isolation is immediately apparent. Your craft is in disrepair, and you must immediately start gathering supplies to stay alive. The game's sci-fi universe is not completely devoid of life, however. Intelligent alien species populate distant planets, waiting to be discovered. However, these extra-terrestrials are…
