Aliens and space pirates seek your demise in strategic RPG Galaxy Legend
Galaxy Legend is a space-based role-playing title from Tap4Fun - the developer responsible for King’s Empire. It’s set in the year 2841 and it follows humanity as it begins to expand to the furthest stars in the universe. In Galaxy Legend, you take on the role of the commander of a galactic outpost vying for power in a dangerous galaxy, and attempt to survive the relentless attacks of space pirates, aliens, and opposing outposts that would all revel in your failure. Galaxy Legend is a strategic RPG. You can create a fleet from a variety of units, and use different tactics to get one over on your opponents. If you like to customise your fleet to your unique play style, you…
Huge Disco Zoo update lets you catch animals in space
Disco Zoo’s latest update has brought a host of new features to NimbleBit’s casual puzzler. The biggest change comes in the form of two new environments, city and space, which add twelve new animal types for you to hunt down for your exhibits. The city setting works much like previous ones, letting you trade coins to engage in the game’s Battleship-like expeditions to capture animals. Space, however, can only be explored by spending a new in-game currency: the imaginatively titled Space Coins. These can only be earned by capturing specific animals to order from other habitats, or through in-app purchases. The update also adds ways to jazz up your enclosures using eithe…

Sci-fi roguelike Star Command has just been given a price cut of galactic proportions on the App Store. Warballoon makes no secret of its Star Trek inspiration for this explorative space adventure. Upgrading your ship and its crew will ensure you are prepared for everything the universe could throw at you. This only works if you fortify the right part of your ship, however, as powerful cannons…
Warhammer 40,000: Chess – Regicide coming to iOS later this year
Hammerfall Publishing announced a new collaboration with Games Workshop today, with news of its new strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Chess – Regicide. Despite the name, Regicide won't just be swap out standard chess pieces for Space Marines and Orks. Project lead at Hammerfall Cathrin Machin promises that the game will go “beyond the standard boundaries of chess to revolutionize the way it is seen”. What this actually means is anyone's guess, though, with the trailer (below) giving away nothing of the gameplay. What is known is that the game will stay faithful to the 40,000 universe. The single player campaign, written by Games Workshop author Ross Watson, will fo…
Try and survive Hopeless: Space Shooter on the App Store now
Upopa has just fired the latest installment of its arcade Hopeless series, Hopeless: Space Shooter, onto the App Store,. Hopeless: Space Shooter has a lot in common Hopeless: The Dark Cave. You take control of armed glowing blobs and try to stay alive as monsters attack. The difference here is that rather than being attacked in the dark of a cave, the blobs must try and survive the emptiness of space. You must tap the attacking aliens as they approach the blobs. The dark levels have attackers popping in from nowhere. Some take two shots, so you'll have to pay attention to what is attacking, as well as where they are coming from. It isn't all mindless trigger twitching, however, as th…

Star Horizon Review
There is something oddly retro about Star Horizon. It harkens back to a past era of arcade gaming - a fast-paced on-the-rails action shooter revamped for 2014. For whatever reason, it seems everyone in the universe wants to kill John, the hero of the tale, and his friendly AI, Ellie. Frozen in space after a battle between Rebels and the Federation, he is a man out of time, swept along by events he doesn't understand. You are able to make choices for John throughout the story which cha…
Watch The Video ReviewSpace-pirate strategy game PlunderNauts is currently looting the UK and Canadian App Stores
Backflip Studios brings pirates and space (space pirates?) together in its new free-to-play strategy game, PlunderNauts, which is out now on the UK and Canadian App Stores. The game has you guiding your pirate ship through the galaxy on a quest to discover Iron Beard’s lost treasure. Naturally, you'll be maintaining the pirate code by looting the star systems for booty, and battling enemy vessels along the way. Battles play out in real time. Like more traditional navel warfare sims, you must maneuver into the right position by dragging your ship around the battlefield, taking into account the range and trajectory of your craft's cannons. Different crew members offer a va…
Beyond Space Review
The game which Beyond Space wants to be and the game which Beyond Space actually is are two entities light years apart. Developer Bulkypix clearly intended to make an expansive space drama filled with intergalactic and interpersonal conflict. What they actually made was a good space shooter, weighed down by an overly verbose story and horrible voice acting. Max Walker, the star of Space Beyond, is an unfortunate soul. Despite being a talented fighter pilot, he is the ugliest man…
