Hands-on with Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf, where XCOM, CCGs, and Space Marines become one
HeroCraft popped over an early build of Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf the other day and, by gum, it's shaping up to be something pretty special. It's a turn-based strategy game, with card collecting elements, squad levelling, and an intriguing plot that's only just beginning to get started in the section of the game I'm showing you in the video below. It also features the Space Wolves, a legion of the Space Marines that has a mysterious and brutal past that's rarely explored in video games. Blood Bowl touches down on iPad and Android tablets as a premium release, but there's a catch
Blood Bowl is a fantastic concept for a game: warring factions of races put down their swords and shields for a few hours to clobber one another in a sport that's reminiscent of American football (if American football featured magic, brutal injuries, and more than a little foul play). Originally developed as a tabletop game set in the Warhammer universe, there have been umpteen digital editions of Blood Bowl, but only now is a version headed to iPad and Android tablets. There's a Solo Player mode for quick matches, and the Campaign mode is a full tournament in which to earn experience to improve your team. If you're after some multiplayer fun times then you'll be able to play local hotse…
Warhammer Quest has had its price smashed
Rodeo Games’s interpretation of Games Workshop’s table-top board game Warhammer Quest has juat had its price dropped on the App Store. This strategic turn-based strategy game is a fantastic interpretation of the old board game. Drawing on a cast that spans from archers to wizards, you must build a squad of suitably stereotypical fantasy fighters to take on quests. With dozens of dungeons and other subterranean areas to journey through you will have to master all of the game’s tactics, magic, and big swords if you hope to emerge victorious against the forces of chaos. Careful construction of your team is vital. Archers prove invaluable at range, but placing one in front…
Warhammer 40,000: Chess – Regicide coming to iOS later this year
Hammerfall Publishing announced a new collaboration with Games Workshop today, with news of its new strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Chess – Regicide. Despite the name, Regicide won't just be swap out standard chess pieces for Space Marines and Orks. Project lead at Hammerfall Cathrin Machin promises that the game will go “beyond the standard boundaries of chess to revolutionize the way it is seen”. What this actually means is anyone's guess, though, with the trailer (below) giving away nothing of the gameplay. What is known is that the game will stay faithful to the 40,000 universe. The single player campaign, written by Games Workshop author Ross Watson, will fo…
