The Thursday Find - Swing King and The Temple of Bling

Wellity wellity well. It's Thursday, the fourth day of the working week. That's pretty exciting isn't it? It'll be Friday tomorrow. And after that we can all go to sleep for two days and hope we never wake up. Or something. On Thursdays here at AppSpy, as well as basking in our own irrelevance, we also like to tell you about a game that we think you should play this week. And, of course, when I say we, I mean me. There's no one else here. As ever you can click on the emboldened name of the game below to download it from the App Store. And have your say about our choice in the comments below. That'll be fun, won't it? I reckon so. Swing King and The Temple of Bling A clever, one-touch arc…

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now - June 28th

Well, it's Wednesday, it's tipping it down, and the temperature has dipped down to Autumnal levels. To say I'm happy would be an understatement. You can take your sun and throw it into the far depths of space where it will never bother me again. Anyway, on Wednesday here at AppSpy we like to round up the best games that are currently on sale on the App Store. And me oh my, there are a lot of them this week. Whittling them down was pretty tough. But here are the five I've gone for. As ever you can click on the emboldened names of the games below to grab them from the App Store. And if you've spotted something ace and cheap that I haven't, feel free to let us know in the comments below. Peac…

The Tuesday Best of - Turn-based strategies designed for iPhone and iPad

There are an awful lot of turn-based strategy games on the App Store, but which are the best? And, more importantly, which are the best that started out life as mobile games. There are a lot of slick ports for your phone and tablet, but I thought we'd focus on games built from the ground up for mobile. So that's what this week's Tuesday best-of is all about. Deep tactical experiences that were always meant to end up in your pocket. And I think I've found three proper gems that should keep fans of the genre super happy. As usual you can click on the emboldened names of the games below to download them. And if you've got your own suggestions for our readers to play, feel free to toss them ca…

The Monday Musing - 3 games we'd like to see on Sega Forever

Welp, Sega Forever is a thing now. It's not quite a streaming service, more like a bunch of Sega games that you can get for nowt. Or pay for if you want to avoid seeing adverts all the time. It's a pretty neat idea, and apparently the big S is going to be updating the catalogue regularly with games from its extensive archive. Obviously that's lead me to a Monday Musing. I used to heart Sega with all of my heart, so I figured I'd have a think about three games that I'd love to see coming to Sega Forever sooner rather than later. And that's exactly what I've done. If there are games you'd like to see, feel free to chuck them in the comments down at the bottom of the article. Unless you're go…

The Thursday Find - Touchdowners

Thursday has come crashing in like a wedding-interrupting spurned suitor. Hey the rest of the week, it's probably shouting, don't get married to anyone other than me. Thursday will be ignored, the marriage will go ahead, and he'll feel like a silly sausage for a while. But here at AppSpy we like to spend our Thursdays telling you about a game you should definitely download this week. It's a regular feature, it's called The Thursday Find, and you are literally reading it right now. Pretty exciting, right? This week we've got a lovely gem for you. It's got a bit of everything - helmets, jumping, balls. What more could you want? You can click on the emboldened name of the game below to downlo…

The Tuesday Best of - Metroidvanias for iPhone and iPad

Forma.8 came out last week. It's a clever twist on the metroidvania formula that sees you floating around gorgeous levels acquiring new skills along the way. It's slick and it's ever so slightly lovely. But it got me thinking about classic metroidvania games you could play on your iPhone. And that in turn set the content alarms screaming in my mind. Plus it's Tuesday, the day when we quite often round up three of the best games in a specific genre. Everything has fallen nicely into place. So here are the three best metroidvania games you can get on the App Store. Click on the emboldened names below to download them. And if you think I've missed anything, chuck your own suggestions in the c…

The Monday Musing - It's too hot, here are some hot games

It's too hot. Honestly, my brain isn't working. I live in a greenhouse. All I can think about is how hot it is. The answer to that is it is very hot. Hot hot hot. There is heat everywhere and I am incapable of escaping it. This may well be why I've gone ahead and written a piece of content about the best hot games on the App Store. Sure, it might not make much sense, but if you expected anything I did in this heat to make sense then you just don't know me at all. Click on the emboldened names of the games below to download them. And if you can think of other hot games, then put them in the hot comments so we can have a hot debate. It really is very hot. The Thursday Find - Fowlst

Oh look. It's Thursday. The fourth day of the working week. There are probably other facts about Thursday that I could regale you with, but since this is AppSpy and not DayOfTheWeekSpy you probably won't be that interested. Instead let's do a Thursday Find. After all, that's the sort of thing we like to do on a Thursday. And this week we've got a pretty impressive little gem for you. Honestly, I had trouble choosing what to suggest you should play. Thankfully though, a pun showed me the way. Anyhow, as usual you can click on the emboldened name of the game below to swoop over to the App Store and download it. And if you think something else deserved to get the prestigious accolade this wee…

The best games on sale for iPhone and iPad right now - June 14th

Oh look it's Wednesday again. That means it's time to have a look at the best games that are for sale on the App Store right now. To be honest it's a bit of a rubbish week for sales, but I've picked five games that are worth a look. It might make more sense to save your money for something else, unless you're really desperate to try out one of the games on offer here. As usual you can click on the emboldened names to download the various interactive entertainment experiences. And if you've spotted something you think we should have included feel free to let people know in the comments below. Framed - Free Definitely the diamond in the rough this week. The Tuesday Best of - Multiplayer shooters for iPhone and iPad

Modern Combat Versus has just soft launched in Australia and New Zealand. If you've not heard of it it's Gameloft's latest version of its shooty bang bang series, this time with a focus on multiplayer. Shoot men, shoot some more men, win points and make your shooty stuff better. You know the drill, soldier. So now seemed like a pretty good time to round up the three best multiplayer shooters that are available world wide on the App Store right now. Basically we're taking a moment to check out the competition. As usual you can click on the emboldened name of the game below to be whisked away to a safe and special place where you can download it. The Monday Musing - What does E3 mean for mobile gaming?

The Monday Musing - What does E3 mean for mobile gaming?

Well it's that time of the year again. The good and the great and the average of the gaming industry have gathered in Los Angeles to paste giant billboards on the side of buildings and get the hype trains started for the latest AAA releases. But here at AppSpy we're far more concerned with the mobile side of things. And that got the cogs in my brain whirring round something rotten. It made me wonder whether mobile gamers should even be that bothered about what's going on at E3? So I decided to write a piece of content about it. After all, content makes the world go round. Or at least I assume it does. It could be something to do with science, but I tend not to bother myself with such unimp…

That's just the kind of gentle and caring souls we are here at AppSpy. Sharing is caring. And we care. A lot. You can click on the emboldened name of the games below to be whisked away to the App Store where you can download them. The Thursday Find - Super Sticky Bros

Thursday is upon us again, some of us are voting in a general election, and it's actually stopped raining where I am. Windows are open, shorts are on, so let's get this over and done with quickly so I can go play in the park. This week's Thursday find might not be the shiniest game on the App Store, but it is an interesting one. And sometimes that counts for a lot more than polish. As ever you can click on the emboldened name of the game below to download it. But Harry, you're no doubt weeping, you haven't even told us what the game is. Oh yeah, sorry about that. It is, of course... Super Sticky Bros Ostensibly this one's a platformer. It's pretty unwieldy when you first start playing, b…
