Rovio updates Angry Birds Star Wars
Finnish super-developer Rovio has released a new content update for its IP mashing physics puzzler Angry Birds Star Wars which adds 20 more levels to the force themed, avian flinging adventure. Set after the battle on the ice planet Hoth, the new level pack takes you through an asteroid field that's packed with dangers, including pig-ified versions of the skittering, bat-like mynocks, who have a tendency to nibble on the power cables of space ships. There are pig troopers to contend with as well, and plenty of gravity wells to sling the bird-versions of your childhood heroes around as you try and grab the high score and take down the evil empire. It's just like being in the movies. The…
Penny Arcade 4 skipping iOS and Android release
If you were a fan of playing Penny Arcade's On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 on the go, then we've got some bad news for you. Unfortunately, due to poor sales, the 4th part of the story isn't going to be appearing on iOS or Android devices. Speaking on Twitter, Robert Boyd, one half of Zeboyd Games, the developers behind the series, revealed that "Our mobile games & ports haven't done so well so the new PA RPG will only be on PC & XBLIG. Apologies to fans of iOS/Mac/Android." Then followed it up by saying "We'd love to put our games on every platform available but we're a two-man operation and want to be able to keep making new games." It's a shame, because while the last…
Glu releases Gun Bros 2 trailer
It's been more than two years since the first Gun Bros came out, which is a lifetime in the smartphone and tablet gaming world. Let's put it this way, when Gun Bros came out, Infinity Blade was still a month away and people were being charmed by how shiny their first generation iPad looked. Gun Bros 2 has actually been around for a couple of months now, albeit in beta form and only available from the Canadian App Store, but a trailer released by Glu today suggests that a global release isn't too far away. There's no gameplay footage to speak of, but according to the Canadian App Store you can expect vehicle rampages, plenty of guns, exotic locations, and plenty of evil scum bags to riddle…
Gameloft releases new Blitz Brigade trailer
There aren't that many multiplayer shooters for your iOS device, and those that there are often have a few problems that keep them from being as enjoyable as they should be. It looks like Gameloft is trying to fix that with Blitz Brigade. The game owes more than a little to Battlefield Heroes and Team Fortress 2, although if you're going to borrow ideas from cartoon style multiplayer blasters, you may as well choose two of the best. Set during an alternate World War 2, the game is all about picking a class and doing as much damage as you can to the opposing team. The classes you can play as all look pretty standard, from the muscular, heavy weapon toting brute to the lithe, sneaky sniper,…
Year Walk might come out in February
"Have you ever been lost in the forest, and you realise that you are walking in circles? That is a scary and confusing feeling. We have tried to capture that feeling in this game." Year Walk by Simogo, the developer behind Beat Sneak Bandit, has been on our most wanted list ever since it was first announced. With its creepy, atmospheric trailers and mysterious teases, we could spend hours speculating about the game. Thankfully it looks like we're not going to have to do that for much longer, because over on the development blog, Simogo has suggested that the game could be out as soon as next month. Year Walk is still wrapped in a veil of secrecy though, with little information about…
Temple Run 2 jogs briskly onto Android
Just over a week after iOS gamers got to grab the idol for the second time, players with Android devices can now try and outrun a vengeful monkey king in Imangi's Temple Run 2. You can check out our review of the iOS version by clicking here. Temple Run 2 doesn't add much to the 3D endless running template laid down by its predecessor, but it remains an entertaining sprint along a crumbly temple wall all the same, and even throws in hillocks, bends, zip wires, and mine carts to keep you on your toes. If you're looking for some fast, fun, twitchy running on your Android device, you could do a lot worse than heading over to the Google Play Store and grabbing this litle gem for free. Or maybe…
Redneck Revenge coming soon to iOS
Are you sick of killing zombies on your iOS device yet? If not, Bulkypix has a new game coming out soon that's going to try and sate that violent, undead mulching lust once and for all. And throw some rednecks into the mix as well. Redneck Revenge: A Zombie Roadtrip is a cartoon adventure starring a bar owning redneck called Red who suddenly finds himself inundated by flesh hungry creatures of the night. There are 30 levels to shoot through, and plenty of zombies to turn into piles of guts. We've embedded a teaser trailer below, so you can get an idea of what to expect from the game when it hits the App Store in the not too distant future. In the meantime, you should probably get in some p…
Namco Bandai bringing Tekken card battler to iOS and the real world
Where Capcom has been brave and bold in bringing its fighting franchises to mobile devices, Namco has been a little less forthcoming, with a port of Dreamcast classic Soul Calibur being their only real foray into the world of pocket gaming. Well, all that is set to change with the release of Tekken Card Tournament, although if you were looking for the high octane thrills and spills of an intricately woven 3D combat system transposed perfectly onto your iPhone or iPad, you're probably going to be a bit disappointed. Instead you're getting a deck building, free to play card battler set in the Tekken universe. Rather than tapping out punches and kicks, you'll throw down digital cards in ord…
Super Hexagon arrives on Android
It's fair to say that we loved Super Hexagon. If you don't believe us, why not go read our review of Terry Kavanagh's mind warping, reaction testing abstraction of the platform game. When you've done that, come back here and we'll tell you the good news. Sorted? Good. Well, the news is good if you own an Android device, because Super Hexagon is now available from the Google Play Store. If that's enough to convince you to stop reading and go download, you can do that by clicking here. If you need a little more persuading, how about the fact that the Android version is currently on sale at a discount of 66%, which means you can pick it up for less than a dollar. You'll need an Android…
Magic Pixel Games announces Stick To It
Magic Pixel Games has released an announcement trailer for their upcoming iOS puzzle platformer Stick To It, and it looks like it's going to be an intriguing mix of one finger gameplay and cartoon visuals. The team behind the game is made up of Boom Blox developers, which gives Stick To It a little more pedigree than your average iOS puzzler. There'll be 80 levels to work your way through, with more to come after launch in free updates. You'll be able to grab the game for nothing when it comes out, but only for the first 72 hours, after which it'll go back up to its full price of $1.99. Interestingly, Magic Pixel Games has also stated that the game will be free from microtransactions, whic…
Firemonkeys releases dev diary for Real Racing 3
It's fair to say that Real Racing 3 is one of the best looking iOS games out there. From the moment we first saw its sleek lins and gorgeous lighting, we've been champing at the bit waiting to get our hands on the game. Well, we've still got a little longer to wait before we can drive real cars around real tracks on our iPhones and iPads, but Firemonkeys has just released a new dev diary showcasing some of the tracks we can look forward to come February. Some of the in game graphics still look absolutely stunning, and the focus on real world tracks and cars looks set to make Real Racing 3 live up to its name. We'll keep you posted as to when the game's finally going to land, but in the mea…
Badlands confirmed for March launch
Frog Mind Games has confirmed that their upcoming, side-scrolling action adventure title for iOS devices Badlands is likely to hit the App Store in March. They've also confirmed that the game will feature four player, same device competitive multiplayer. The game takes place in a forest and looks absolutely gorgeous. You control a blobby denizen of the woods who has to uncover the deep dark secret that lurks behind the trees. With physics based gameplay and a good dollop of imagination, Badlands is unlike most things you've ever seen. Throw in the aforementioned four player multiplayer, which lets you take on friends and foes in dangerous races through spike filled forest tracks, and you'r…
Infestor infecting the App Store on Thursday
Ravenous Games, the developer behind the League of Evil series among other things, has announced that their next game, Infestor, will be squelching its way onto the App Store on the 17th of January. Following in the footsteps of League of Evil, the game is a pixel-styled platformer. The twist here is that the green alien blob you control can't do everything on its own, so you need to infest characters dotted around the level in order to take over their bodies and use their special skills. There are 60 levels for you to work your way through, and plenty of fiendish traps and puzzles for you to get past in each. Ravenous Games has a nack for creating bite sized, hardcore platforming adventur…
Undead Soccer coming January 17th
Developer CGMatic has teamed up with BulkyPix to release a new take on the flick football genre, Undead Soccer. Rather than using your finger kills to score goals, here you'll use them to hold back waves of everyone's favourite iOS enemy, zombies. The game sees you taking control of a star player who gets sent off half way through a match. After a shower and a sleep, you awake to find that everyone in the world has been turned into a flesh munching creature of the night, and only your silky footballing skills can save you. Cue lots of football flicking, as well as plenty of boosts and bonuses, as you work your way through a variety of stadia and scenarios, kicking balls in the faces of the…
Ghostbusters goes live in Canada
Ghostbusters is a new freemium title from Beeline, the developer behind the likes of Smurf Village and Snoopy's Street Fair. You shouldn't let that put you off though, because it looks like there's a lot of promise in this new, fully licensed game. Starring all of your favourite Ghostbusters, the game sees you defending New York from paranormal threats. With a hand drawn, cartoon look, and a mission based system, comparisons could be drawn between this and Double Fine's Middle Manager of Justice. So you'll be busting ghosts, and building up a team of different Ghostbusters, each with their own specialisations. There are 'busters that heal, 'busters that trap ghosts with goo, and your stand…
