Multiplayer beta test for Mario Kart Tour is exclusive to Gold Pass subscribers

Since launch, the absence of multiplayer in Mario Kart Tour has been more than a little perplexing. We kinda always knew it was coming, but for an MK game to launch with such an integral feature missing was still enough to draw the ire of certain fans. Now, however, Nintendo has announced over on Twitter that the game will be getting a multiplayer beta in December. The only problem? It's exclusive to Gold Pass subscribers… A real-time multiplayer beta test is planned for December and will be available to #MarioKartTour Gold Pass subscribers.Stay tuned here for more details coming soon. pic.twitter.com/xNIdJE44cI — Mario Kart Tour (@mariokarttourEN) November 1, 2019 Yeah,…

Forgotten Memories, the classic Silent Hill-inspired horror game, has finally arrived on Android

Psychose Interactive's Silent Hill-inspired horror game Forgotten Memories has finally made its way to Android over four years after launching for iOS. It harkens back to classics of the genre with its mix of tricky puzzling, brutal combat, and psychological scares. The game sees you assume the role of a young woman investigating the disappearance of a child. Rose, the lead, wakes up in a weird place filled with mannequins and a definite air of something being amiss. As she continues to explore, she finds herself embroiled in a 'never-ending tragedy'. This latest version apparently boasts some improvements over the iOS original, though I'm still not sure what they are or how extensive th…

SIMULACRA 2 is an unsettling 'found phone' horror game for iOS and Android

SIMULACRA 2, Kaigan Games' immersive narrative thriller, is an inventive and discomforting game all about investigating the mysterious death of a young influencer. It uses a phone interface to tell its grisly take, putting you directly into the experience as an investigative journalist. The victim's death has been ruled an accident, but that isn't fooling Detective Murilo. As part of his investigation, he enlists your help to solve the case, and you'll do so by exploring the victim's phone, navigating familiar apps and Maya's messages, videos, and social media to find clues. When it comes time to do so, you can conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses in order to check stories and ca…

Super Dinosaur Kickin' Tail has now launched globally on iOS and Android

Super Dinosaur Kickin' Tail, based on the popular CG-animated show, is a Clash Royale-style PVP game that’s just launched globally for iOS and Android. The game's release was first spotted by Kongbakpao.  I actually hadn’t heard of the show prior to now, and so it came as a surprise to learn that it’s based on a comic book series by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Outcast). The story revolves around child genius Derek Dynamo and his mechanically-enhanced T-Rex pal, Super Dinosaur. Together they combine their powers to do good and protect the world from the villainous Max Maximus. As I say, gameplay here looks very reminiscent of Clash Royale, albeit with a whole…

Gorgeous dungeon crawler MONOLISK launches October 15th

Developer Trickster Arts’ MONOLISK is perhaps best described as a ‘fantasy mobile ARPG, CCG and dungeon builder in a single package’. It’s also really darn nice to look at, boasting a striking art style that I can’t say reminds me of much else out there. The game’s headed for a global release on October 15 on both iOS and Android, and you can pre-register now ahead of launch. At its core, MONOLISK sounds like the dungeon crawlers of yore, mixing hack ‘n’ slash combat with some basic exploration. You’ll collect various equipment, ability, and creature cards in order to work your way through the many tricky dungeons. There are 5 heroe…

Google Play Pass launches this week with 350+ games and apps

Google Play Pass, the tech giant's crack at an Apple Arcade-style subscription service, is set to launch this week in the US with 350+ games and apps. Just like Apple Arcade, it’ll be priced at $4.99 a month, but early adopters can get a year’s worth of the service for $1.99 a month. Disappointingly, it's looking like Google has no real exclusives to kickstart the service, unlike Apple Arcade which released last week with one of the best launch line-ups in video game history. Some of the highlights include Stardew Valley, Terraria, Limbo, KOTOR, Old Man’s Journey, and Bridge Constructor Portal. As you’d expect, the games and apps featured on Play Pass won’t…

Sub Drop is a fast, challenging puzzler from the developer of Node Along

Sub Drop is a fast, challenging puzzler set to launch on the App Store tomorrow, September 17th. The free-to-play title comes to us from Turkish indie developer ScrollView Games. This is now the team’s fourth game following puzzlers Node Along and Incidence and vertical-scrolling platformer Toxic Hunters. It looks to be another fairly fast-paced puzzler, mixing reaction-based bouncing with rapid-fire subtraction. The basic idea is that you need to keep a small, bouncy ball inside a spinning square which you have full control over. You’ll fight to keep the ball safe while searching for special numbered blocks. The ultimate goal in each level is to drop the target points to ze…

ShapeOnimoes is a smart, minimalist puzzler inspired by Tangram and Pentomino

Crazy Oyster Games’s upcoming puzzler ShapeOnimoes looks to be a simple, smart, challenging little game which harkens back to the likes of Tangram and Pentomino. As you can see from the gameplay trailer below, each level has its own unique shape for you to fill in using the onimoes at your disposal. Within every level are three sublevels that also need to be solved if you’re to progress. The sublevels feature their own domino types to use and master. It promises a fair challenge, though the early levels do a good job of easing you into the experience. At launch, there are set to be over 120 levels to work your way through - 360+ if you could the sublevels. The developer also…

LEGO Star Wars Battles is an action strategy game starring characters from the entire saga

LEGO Star Wars Battles in a very imaginatively-named action strategy game heading to iOS and Android devices in 2020. It comes to us from developer TT Games Brighton, and it tasks you with amassing the ultimate collection of fan-favourite Star Wars characters and vehicles. It’s largely focused on real-time, 1V1 multiplayer battles, with a sizeable portion of deckbuilding on the side. You’ll gather together characters from the entire Star Wars Saga, including the recent spinoffs, then deploy your army and build defensive towers to capture enemy territory and take down your opponents. Sure, it’s a strategy game, but it’s also said to be very accessible. Some of the…

Shovel Knight Dig is shaping up to be a promising spinoff

Shovel Knight Dig is shaping up to be a promising spinoff

Shovel Knight Dig is an upcoming platformer heading our way thanks to a promising partnership between Yacht Club games – creator of the original Shovel Knight – and Nitrome. It’s an all-new adventure featuring well-known knights from the hard-as-nails original, including the titular shovel-wielding hero and the dastardly Drill Knight. It sees you digging your way underground, earning loot and rare materials as you go. It seems to rely quite heavily on randomly-generated levels, which certainly sets it apart from its big brother. The latest trailer showcases some impressive animations, new enemies, and the altered combat system – all of which I definitely like the loo…

Fifth episode of Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise ' The Final Blow' is finally out

The fifth and final episode of Yak & Co’s Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise is finally out on both the App Store and Google Play. To say it’s been a long time coming would perhaps be an understatement, though many seem to be singing the praises of ‘The Final Blow, which suggests to me that it’s probably been worth the wait. The fifth episode was teased earlier this month over on Yak & Co’s official Twitter account. The release date arrived via cryptic puzzle, with many fans rushing to solve the conundrum. If you’re new to the series, Agent A is a classy point-and-click adventure game where you assume the role of a mysterious agent. You’ve bee…

Dead Zed creeps its way onto the App Store and Google Play

Dead Zed, developer Not Doppler’s zombie shooter, has now crept its way onto both the App Store and Google Play. It’s an intense FPS which sees you gunning down hordes of shambling zombies, upgrading your arsenal, and generally just being a bit of a badass. Dead Zed actually started life as a web game, going on to amass a whopping 50 million plays. The updated mobile port adds some fresh content, building upon the already sizeable experience of the original release. You can expect 40+ zombie-filled environments to work your way through, with a satisfying difficulty curve that’ll see you gradually mastering the shooting mechanics and strategic crowd control. At launch, t…

Dead Cells makes its grand debut on the App Store today

The iOS version of Dead Cells, Motion Twin’s smash-hit roguelike, is now available for download over on the App Store. It arrives following a near year-long wait which started when a Google Play store page leaked the existence of the ports. It’s headed our way from developer Playdigious, and it seems like the team there has done a commendable job of translating a complex, lightning-fast game over to mobile. Dead Cells first launched last year on PC and consoles, going on to earn various GOTY nominations. Its mix of accessible roguelike mechanics and high-octane action made it once of the standout indies from last year, both in terms of sales and critical adoration. It was always…

As first reported by Mobile Game Network, Mojang’s upcoming take on Ingress and Pokemon Go, Minecraft Earth, is now available for pre-registration over on Google Play. The news arrived as a tweet over on Mojang’s official Twitter account. The game has a large focus on creating little models that can then be brought to life as full 3D holograms.
