Galactic Phantasy Review
When you first look at a game like Galaxy Pirate Adventure by Sunfish Studio Limited, it's hard not to be misled and think you're in for a Privateer-like experience set in a pirate-infested universe. The first hint is in the game's description as it clearly calls itself a 'full 3D RPG', which is literally exactly what it is. You play as the Prince of Pirates, however you've been cast out in to the 'waters' by your father (the 'King' of Pirates if you're wondering) to adventure and gro…
Watch The Video ReviewHidden Gem of the Week: Dungeon of the Endless
Dungeon of the Endless starts out pretty badly for your team of bounty hunters, assassins, and criminals, as their prison transport vessel is destroyed by the mysterious alien force known as the Endless and the survivors find themselves in the subterranean corridors of an Endless complex. Otherworldly horrors lurk in the dark rooms and halls, waiting to attack your heroes in overwhelming waves. The exit is twelve floors up. Amplitude Studios' tower defense strategy roguelike is a desperatr and tense journey to the surface so far above. Each floor is a procedurally-generated maze, through which you guide your team room-by-room, preparing for whether you find much-needed resources, a mercha…
Torchlight: Infinities’ upcoming season launches this week with a new hero
XD Games has announced the impending arrival of Torchlight: Infitite's most dynamic season to date, set to launch on January 10th. Dubbed Arcana, it will bring us a fascinating hero to try out, Tarot Card-based mechanics, and the opportunity to face down a hoard of foes with your friends. Let’s start with the new hero; Iris, the Vigilant Breeze. In addition to having a beautiful name, Iris brings an interesting gameplay mechanic to battles. She merges with Spirit Magi to fire out obliterating elemental abilities, or be more supportive and heal. Having access to both choices will hopefully increase everyone's enjoyment. Appropriately, we will also get two new Spirit Magi arrivin…

Square Enix showcases a new trailer for Just Cause Mobile, a Space Invaders AR game, and a new Hitman Sniper spin-off
Last night, Square Enix held a presentation to show off some of its upcoming games coming to all platforms. Among the reveals were several games which are coming to mobile over the course of this year. A new trailer for Just Cause: Mobile has dropped. It doesn’t show any gameplay, but it features some characters who will appear in the game like Annika, Teo and of course, Rico Rodriguez. The most important thing about this trailer is showing the game will deliver the same action-packed experience that you expect from the main entries to the series on consoles and PC. Meanwhile, Square Enix also showed off a Space Invaders AR game where you must protect the world from invading aliens…
Cartoon Wars: Gunner Review
Cartoon Wars: Gunner is an action packed side scrolling shooting game where you play Captain J, a local hero and expert gunner who is looking for revenge after narrowly escaping death by hiding in the mountains when the King sent a pack of assassins out to kill you. Players must now fight their way back by gunning down all of enemies which stand in their path. The controls are fairly basic and easy to use. There is a D-pad located on the bottom left corner of the screen for move…
Watch The Video Review4 more reasons to indulge in Shadowblood’s Dark Fantasy RPG experience
If the sheer technical prowess of UTPlus Interactive’s mobile action RPG wasn’t enough to draw you into the world of Narr the first time around, those that like a little more depth with regards to their hacking, slashing, and near-endless looting can rest comfortably knowing that Shadowblood isn’t just a pretty face. Renowned amongst fans for its unique approach to control optimisation, the game lets you traverse lands and destroy dragons in a totally tailorable manner unseen in most ARPGs. But this only scratches the surface of the Shadowblood experience. So, to make things slightly clearer, we’ve highlighted some other reasons why players might be interested in a…
AVP: Evolution Review
With the Alien franchise in a bit of a slump thanks to the dramatic failure of the recently released 'Colonial Marines' it was a warm comfort to know that the new Alien vs. Predator title 'Evolution' was in the safe hands of Angry Mob Games, the boffins behind the brutally fun Predators for the App Store. However, instead of a violent love letter to the sci-fi universe's deadliest hunters, players are handed a basic revenge plot where they'll have to fight to survive and defeat the Su…
Watch The Video ReviewThe Witcher - Versus For iPhone
I'm a bit of a fan of The Witcher by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski and despite being an early adopter of the PC RPG for the franchise (which was riddled with issues for the international version), my fandom held true. So of course the news of a sequel just being announced caused me some joy. What does this have to do with the iPhone? Well the game is getting a cross-platform release and that's right... the App Store will be getting its slice of the franchise. The Witcher: Versus will be tied to a browser-based version of the game, which means you can waste your time while you waste your time (insert Xzibit macro here). More details are to come, but it's looking really good and that's n…
Gangstar Rio: City of Saints Review
It hardly bears pointing out that the Gangstar series from Gameloft has taken its inspiration from Rockstar's GTA series, but where previous incarnations of Gangstar were happy to simply ape older generations of GTA, the latest version takes a swing at something entirely new. Unfortunately it's a swing and a miss as no matter how you look at it, Gangstar Rio: City of Saints fails to excite and inspire the same sort of sandbox fun it attempts to emulate. The problems are evident early…
Watch The Video ReviewConquer the Frosthald in fantasy boardgame UHR-Warlord on iPad
Turn-based boardgame UHR-Warlords is out now in iPad. Set against a fantasy backdrop, the game takes place on a grid housing two warring armies. Assuming command of one of these armies, it's up to you to manoeuvre your forces into advantageous positions, and then unleash steely hell upon your foes. You can enlist a variety of warriors to wage your battles for you. There are sword swinging warriors, spell-casting mages, and stealthy assassins waiting to do your bidding. More creatures can be summoned using Uhrkraft, UHR-Warlords's active resource. In fact, all movements, spells, and actions are dependant on this regenerating currency. As you can see from the trailer above, the game's 3D…
Lilith Games announces surprise collaboration for AFK Arena with The Witcher
In a very unexpected announcement, Lilith Games has announced a collaboration between its idle-RPG game AFK Arena, and the smash hit Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players will be able to recruit some iconic characters from the series to play alongside. AFK Arena is no stranger to big collaborations, with characters from popular series such as Joker and Queen from Persona 5, Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed, and Ainz Ooal Gown and Albedo from Overlord. However, Witcher 3 is a high-value IP bound to draw in the crowds. Especially given the Lilith Games have managed to net Geralt's voice actor Doug Cockle to record the voice-acted lines for the partnership. The popular characters Geralt of…
The Monday Musing - What does E3 mean for mobile gaming?
Well it's that time of the year again. The good and the great and the average of the gaming industry have gathered in Los Angeles to paste giant billboards on the side of buildings and get the hype trains started for the latest AAA releases. But here at AppSpy we're far more concerned with the mobile side of things. And that got the cogs in my brain whirring round something rotten. It made me wonder whether mobile gamers should even be that bothered about what's going on at E3? So I decided to write a piece of content about it. After all, content makes the world go round. Or at least I assume it does. It could be something to do with science, but I tend not to bother myself with such unimp…
4 mobile stealth games that are just as good as Dishonored 2
It’s a pretty sneaky week on consoles, what with Dishonored 2 and Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection stealthily swooping their way onto those big black boxes we all have stuck under out TVs. But it’s not just consoles that do stealth gaming well. Oh me oh my no. There’s plenty to choose from on mobile as well. If only someone was content savvy enough to create a list of them… Oh. Wait. I am. So here’s a list of some of the best stealth games that money can buy on mobile. You might agree. You might disagree. You might not care. Whichever path you choose though, make sure you’re loud and vociferous about it in the comments. Republique Okay so…
