Learn how to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite with AppSpy - Part 10

James, Harry, and I take on the Giadrome, fight the Khezu, and kill Velocidrome in this episode of our ongoing Let's Play series on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. As well as our legendary scrap with the Shadow in the Mountains, there's talk of James' Tumblr documenting how many monkeys he's murdered, Harry's opinion on “lady ball sacks”, and Resident Evil chat aplenty. Oh and claws. Lots of claws. Fancy catching up with the rest of the series? Here's what came before.…

EGX 2014: Hands-on with Haunt the House: Terrortown, the horrifyingly fun puzzler

AppSpy and Pocket Gamer are in full force at Eurogamer Expo 2014, and we've especially been checking out the big 'ole indie section. Within this little cave of indie gaming dreams our Mark found Haunt the House: Terrortown, a puzzle game from the SFB Games peeps that made Detective Grimoire. And here he is to show you what it's like.…

9 Turbo Dismount videos that make you thankful for seatbelts

Turbo Dismount is out and everyone's making horrible replay videos of them crashing into things. Ramps being jumped, cars colliding, vehicles being totalled, bodies exploding, limbs flying everywhere, skulls being crushed: it's all in Turbo Dismount, and those with a sadistic creative flair have been recording themselves hurting the poor test dummy in all manner of nasty ways. And I've collected together nine of the best, off of that Everyplay. 1. First you're like "this video is disappointing", then BAM! 2. Egregious use of slowmo is egregious 3. Going Gandalf 4. Big launch. Big crash 5. Ski jump 6. Yeah I added one of my own, what of it? 7. This flappy bird's killing m…

Want all the halfway decent #Bendgate pictures in one spot? Want a tropical soundtrack to go with them? Have we got the video for you!

If you haven't kept up with the whole #Bendgate thing, then all you need to know is this: some customers have been complaining that their new iPhone 6 has developed a bend, most likely due to the size of their phones in comparison to their pockets. Naturally the Internet did its thing, making meme pics left, right, and centre. Then someone collected them into one video and put a rhythm with a nice island feel to it. Marvellous.…

Hands-on with Kill Shot, the first person sniping title from Hothead

There's something ever-so satisfying about carefully lining up a perfect headshot, squeezing the digital trigger, and watching in awe as a camera tracks the projectile in slow motion to its designated target. Satisfying, and hilariously brutal, as you'll see in this hands-on video with Kill Shot. Kill Shot is out now globally on Android and iOS, and is free-to-play.…

Gackt is voicing Lu Bu in Square Enix's 3594e - Romance of the Three Kingdoms Hero's Song, here's a video of him wearing an awesome set of armour

J-Pop mega star Gackt is providing his dreamy vocal chords to a brand new RPG from Square Enix. It's called 3594e - Romance of the Three Kingdoms Hero's Song, and will be based incredibly loosely on classic Chinese history novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They've even done a trailer with Gackt in it, in which he's wearing a ridiculously cool outfit, and you can see it below. And yes, as you might expect, there's no word yet from Squeenix on whether it'll come to the west. Big ups to 4Gamer.net for spotting this one.…

Asphalt Overdrive trailer has an 80s soundtrack, classic vehicles, car backflips, bacon outrunning, and loads of neon

Video games let us do the impossible, such as slaying demons, or saving the world, or explore distant stars. In the case of Asphalt Overdrive, video games let you travel to the eighties, drive classic supercars, escape police chases, and backflip your car through a billboard. Video games are awesome. The game's out now on iOS and Android, with a Windows Phone version coming soon. [App Store link][Google Play link]…

Popcorn Party is bursting with Sprout-y flavour

The latest puzzle game from DeNA and Room 8 Studio is Popcorn Party, which is apparently inspired by a pen and paper game I've never heard of, called Sprouts. You're tasked with drawing lines between popcorn kernels, with the aim of chaining matching kernel colours together and bursting them in one go for highscores and access to special abilities. Want to throw your own Popcorn Party? Get the game for free from the App Store now. [App Store link]…

Capcom took Danny out for a Monster Hunter themed meal, he videod himself eating weird food / getting tanked

Being in the games press you often get invites to lavish dinners and gala events and other such stuff. Usually we don't go in for that sort of thing - the promise of a few drinks and a plate full of chips isn't enough to drag us away from our gaming devices - but Capcom asked if we wanted to eat from a menu of Monster Hunter delicacies. So we sent our Danny to "investigate". Part 1: Mega Potion Part 2: Kezhu Saliva & Fresh Kirin Tears Part 3: Gore Magala Tail, Feeler, Crystalised Frenzy Jelly & Grated Parashroom Part 4: Kushala Daora Steak, Eye Lens, Carapace Piece, Dragon Treasure & Blood Part 5: Psychoserum Part 6: Wyvern Scale Sushi - Rath…

I won't Force you to watch this Star Wars: Galactic Defense developer diary, but you probably should

DeNA, Disney, and Lucasfilm have teamed up and are producing a tower defence game called Star Wars: Galactic Defense. Excited? Yeah... The jury's obviously still out on whether it's going to be any more than a standard TD game with Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader slapped all over it, but we've got our fingers crossed. The dev diary below features awkward smiles by the executive producer, a sequence in which a man speaking English is subtitled in English, but most importantly it has gameplay footage for you to look at and say "ooooh that looks quite nice".…

Hands-on with Angry Birds Transformers, the Autobot auto-runner with physics-based mayhem

Currently in soft-launch in New Zealand, Angry Birds Transformers is a side-scrolling auto-runner crossed with the physics-y destruction of a traditional Angry Birds game. It's a curious mix, and from the time I've spent with the game so far, a highly enjoyable one. And as you might expect from Rovio, almost the entire production is super slick. From the smooth framerate, to the kick-ass soundtrack, to incidental details (the pause menu is just brilliant): there's a feeling of quality throughout. Here's our early look.…
